Description
Onshore Piping Designer
Provide technical support, clarification and
interpretation of task, code and standards requirements for all discipline
design and drafting activities.
Reviews assigned projects discipline
deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Company standards.
Monitors assigned projects discipline
manpower requirements to support established budgets and schedule. Assure that
all assigned discipline personnel are indoctrinated and current with Company,
department, discipline, and project standards and procedures.
Review and approve assigned project
discipline work scopes, work approaches, and estimates.
Review and approve submitted discipline Work
Share Packages for assigned projects. With the Production Unit Lead Discipline
Engineer, prepares man hour estimates and clarifications/exceptions in support
of Company project bid proposals.
Develops and maintains discipline design
standards, procedures, and guides.
Prepares performance appraisals for assigned
personnel and administers salary adjustments per approved plan.
Participates in the interviewing and hiring
of new discipline design personnel.
Provides mentoring, Company orientation, and
on-the-job training for assigned personnel.
Requirements
Knowledge of brown field offshore platform
work. Minimum 2 years experience using PDMS
Typically fifteen years progressively
responsible discipline related design experience; BS degree or completion of
technical courses with 10+ years of relevant experience, including supervisory
or lead position experience.
Senior Principal level design position
responsible for supervising teams as well as performing difficult and complex
work assignments involving independent judgment to determine a course of action
consistent with established functional and organization's policies and goals.
Strong understanding of basic engineering and/or design/drafting concepts. Has
general understanding of other disciplines' roles in the design process. Able
to complete tasks in accordance with project procedures and recognized codes
and standards. Able to discuss routine technical problems and communicate
effectively with immediate supervisor and other project personnel.
Able to utilize advanced PC, 2D CAD, and 3D
CAD tools (if applicable), and other applicable hardware and software to
perform duties. Understand and oversee advanced design as well as providing
technical direction and training. Ability to meet deadlines and manage
priorities is critical. Strong organizational and presentation skills as well
as the ability to effectively communicate and take a leadership role over the
group for which they have supervisory responsibilities.
Commitment to customer service and ability
to assist others in applying knowledge and understanding in solving functional
problems within area of expertise. Ability to maintain confidential information
critical.
Generally characterized as a "Senior
Principal" with ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to
business problems uncovered during course of performing assignments. Has less independent contributor responsibilities and more
supervisory responsibilities. Provides increasing levels of oversight,
expertise, guidance and counseling. Responsible for assigning lead role,
scheduling, checking, technical training, progress reports, performance
evaluations, etc.
Typically will regularly interface with
departmental staff and upper management, and frequently with outside customers.
